Great Western Greenway
The Great Western Greenway is an off-road cycling and walking trail on the route of the former Westport-Achill railway (closed in 1937). It is 42km in length and passes through some of Ireland's most beautiful scenic areas.
The trail goes from Achill to Westport via Mulranny and Newport. There are great views of the mountains, rivers, lakes, woodland and the Atlantic Ocean & coastline. Bicycles can be hired from various bike hire firms, with some offering drop and collection services.
